Kindergarten - 5th Grade
St. Benedict's comprehensive kindergarten through 5th-grade program introduces and reinforces knowledge and skills essential for students to achieve success in middle school and beyond.
At St. Benedict Catholic School each classroom teacher is responsible for teaching the majority of academic subjects. These subjects include: Reading/English Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, and Religion.

In addition to the subject areas listed above, students in grades K – 5 have the opportunity to enjoy a number of Specialist classes that include: Physical Education, Music, Library, Technology, Spanish, and Art.

In all of our lower grades (PS – 2nd), our teachers use the Slingerland Method. Slingerland Method is used to teach reading, writing and phonics skills. This is a unique, multi-sensory approach to teaching these skills.

In addition, PS-5th grades use the Wired for Reading Program. Wired for Reading is an engaging, multi-sensory word analysis program, which is designed to improve reading, spelling, and vocabulary.

The fact that all of our teachers are trained in and follow the same, time-tested methods helps our students succeed and grow year-to-year.
