St. Benedict Catholic School
Preschool through 8th Grade

Letter from Mr. Anderson, 10/13/2022

Dear St. Benedict Catholic School Families,

As you know by now, today, October 13th was a noon dismissal and tomorrow October 14th the school will close all its programs.  We realize that these breaks in school come as an inconvenience to many families.  While students are out of the building the staff will be busy performing some important tasks (as described in last week’s letter) to make sure that St. Benedict continues to provide a top-notch education for our students.   Rather than spread them over several days and weeks we are trying to combine them this year to minimize the disruption to your schedules. Thank you for your patience as we look for better ways to serve you and your students.

Parent/Teacher Conferences are right around the corner and will be offered on October 27th and October 28th. This year we are excited to welcome parents back into the building for these conferences. It has been a few years since we have had this opportunity to meet face-to-face and work together to support your children.  Your family can use the links provided below to sign up for a conference!

Please Note: Extended Day and Kids’ Club will be closed during both conference days.  Ms. Clare and her staff will be available on Thursday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and on Friday from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm to watch students while parents are in conferences.  This will be a free of charge drop-in service, available to all students while their parents are conferencing.

For those parents who are interested in seeing the results of last month’s MAP testing, teachers will provide each family (grades 2 through 8) with a copy of their child’s MAP testing scores during your Parents Teacher Conference.

The Parents’ Club will be hosting a dress up, Halloween event again this year.  This event will take place on Sunday, October 30th on the playground.  For more information, please see the attached flyer.

As our weather turns cooler, cloudier, and inevitably rainier I want to advise parents of our new Rainy Day Drop-Off Procedure. This will be used on mornings when it is actively raining or stormy (not just a little sprinkle or mist).

Students will be invited directly into the school building at 8:15 through the Main Door (on 48th street); the Recess Door (adjacent the Play Structure); the North Door (on 49th street); or the PS/PK Entrance (beside the Prekindergarten Room).  Students and parents should NOT congregate by the playground or in the cafeteria. Students should go directly to their classroom.

Beginning this week, St. Benedict Catholic School will be adjusting its masking policies to better align with CDC masking recommendations.  Masks will no longer be required during school events when one or more students are gathering.  Masks are still an option for those who would like to continue to wear them and will still be required for certain individuals who may be close contacts or completing their required masking period following a positive case of COVID.

Have a wonderful, long weekend,

Brian Anderson
