Following a curriculum carefully laid out by the Archdiocese of Seattle and in accordance with state and national standards, teachers are committed to providing each student with a unique and challenging learning environment.
All of our K – 5 rooms are single grade, self-contained classrooms. These grade levels have a classroom limit of 25 students.
At St. Benedict Catholic School each classroom teacher is responsible for teaching the majority of academic subjects. These subjects include: English Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, and Religion.
In addition to the subject areas listed above, students in grades K – 5 have the opportunity to enjoy a number of Specialist classes that include: Physical Education, Music, Library, Technology, Spanish, and Art.
In all of our lower grades (PS – 2nd), our teachers use the Slingerland Method to teach reading, writing, and phonetic skills. This is a unique, multi-sensory approach to teaching these skills. The fact that all of our teachers are trained in and follow the same, time-tested method helps our students succeed and grow year-to-year.
