About St. Benedict School
St.
Benedict School has been at the heart of the dynamic Wallingford
neighborhood in Seattle since 1908. It attracts students from the nearby
community as well as greater Seattle.
With its low faculty/student ratio and neighborhood emphasis,
St. Benedict is a safe, family-oriented and community-involved school.
St. Benedict students academic achievement significantly exceed that of comparable
public schools, at a much more affordable cost than comparable private
schools. As a K-8 school, students avoid the jarring transition to middle
school from a typical k-5 program; St. Benedict School truly prepares
students for success in high school and beyond.
We emphasize community both within our school and with the outside world.
Within the school, each student belongs to a "family," each of which
includes a student from each grade. In the broader community, our parent-sponsored Wurst Festival
each fall as well as our spring auction
have become longstanding Wallingford neighborhood traditions. Students are
involved with an array of social service activities, and have international
contacts as well.
We
invite you to take a personal tour of our school to meet our principal and
teachers, and see our computer lab,
science lab, library, classrooms, and auditorium. You can also learn about our cultural arts partnerships,
performing arts programs, athletic programs, Spanish language program, and student-produced
weekly television program. Our weekly music/recognition
assemblies are open to the public and occur each Friday from 8:45am to 9:15am.
The St. Benedict School Five-Year Plan
In 2005-2006, St. Benedict School undertook an extensive long-ranging planning process that involved parents, teachers, and the school
administration. The result is the school's Five-Year Plan, which lays out a roadmap for the school in the years 2006-2011.
This plan follows up and builds on the previous Five-Year Plan, which was successfully completed in 2005.
You can download a summary of the plan here:
